Double Chocolate Granola Recipe

A delicious, customizable homemade granola recipe. Chocolatey, nutty and so affordable!

Equipment

  • 1 Food Processor optional

Ingredients

  • 3 cups rolled oats sprouted is best
  • 1 ½ cups chopped nuts almonds, pecans, and/or peanuts are delicious
  • ¼ cup shredded coconut unsweetened
  • ¼ cup hemp hearts
  • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup coconut or avocado oil
  • ½ cup maple syrup plus more to taste // or other liquid sweetener of choice
  • ½ cup chocolate chips or chunks optional
  • 1 tsp espresso powder optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • To a food processor (or large mixing bowl), add oats, nuts, hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, salt, cocoa powder and espresso powder, if using. Pulse/stir to combine. Drizzle over coconut oil and maple syrup. Pulse until incorporated. Press into baking sheets. Sprinkle with coconut.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until fragrant. If coconut browns before granola finishes cooking, stir granola and continue baking.
  • Turn off oven and leave granola to cool in oven with door slightly ajar. Granola will harden as it cools.
  • Break into pieces, stir in chocolate chips, and store in airtight container.

Notes

If you prefer sweeter granola, you can add a few tablespoons of dry sugar (coconut sugar, cane sugar, etc) when mixing the initial ingredients
Feel free to add other ingredients you like (cinnamon, vanilla extract, chia seeds)
