This is one of my husband’s favourites and it is SO easy. Bonus points: it looks super fancy.

Simple Ingredients
All you need to make this is a sheet of puff pastry (you can find it in the freezer aisle at your local grocery), a bunch of asparagus, cheese, lemon zest, and a few spices. It’s really simple but so so good.
I make this asparagus tart for lunch a lot in the spring. It’s super simple and comes together quickly, so it’s an ideal recipe when you’re short on time.

- Cheese: Grated Gruyere, Gouda or Parmesan are classic choices, but feel free to experiment with whatever cheese you prefer (or have on hand)!

Easiest Asparagus Tart
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry
- 1 bunch asparagus
- 4 oz cream cheese or unflavored greek yogurt
- 1 cup shredded cheese I usually do a combination of gouda and parmesan. Sometimes cheddar
- 1 tsp onion salt
- salt and pepper to taste
- zest of one lemon
Instructions
- Thaw a sheet of puff pastry on a parchment lined baking sheet. Gently roll it out once thawed. It shouldn’t spread more than a half inch.
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Spread cream cheese or greek yogurt over the pastry, leaving about ½ inch bare around the edges. Sprinkle with onion salt and shredded cheese. Add Asparagus, alternating up and down (See photo). Add salt and pepper to taste. Finish by zesting one lemon over top.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and asparagus is fork tender.
